At the heart of the Saadiyat Cultural District is the Zayed National Museum, the centerpiece of the island. The Guggenheim Abu Dhabi Overview

The Guggenheim Abu Dhabi will be a pre-eminent platform for global contemporary art and culture that will present the most important artistic achievements of our time. Through its permanent collection, exhibitions, scholarly publications and educational programs, the Guggenheim Abu Dhabi will promote a truly transnational perspective on art history.

The Guggenheim Abu Dhabi will move beyond a definition of global art premised on geography by focusing on the interconnected dynamics of local, regional, and international art centers as well as their diverse historical contexts and sources of creative inspiration. In realizing this endeavor, the museum will acknowledge and celebrate the specific identity derived from the cultural traditions of Abu Dhabi and the United Arab Emirates, as well as other countries comprising the Middle East, even as it pioneers a novel, visionary model that will redefine the art-historical canon.

The museum is due to open in 2017.

Importance of Health & Diet

The importance of health & diet

We often hear “health is wealth” there is denying to this proverb that concisely sums up the value of good health being one’s wealth. If one is healthy they are in a position to accomplish any of their goals and handle the functioning of everyday activities. Within this essay, it examines the significance of health and diet by referring to some very interesting facts. The first thought that comes to one’s mind when they put health and diet together is looking attractive, good and eating healthy that would give them the necessary nutrition they require. Let us explore the reasons why it is essential to look after one’s health and pay attention to diet. It should be seen the fundamental remains a healthy diet is considered as the foundation for a body to function well. With food being the source of providing us energy and for our body to function normally, it would have a direct impact on the way our body and mind functions in various phases of life.

Correlation of diet and weight
By maintaining a healthy diet, it would help sustain one an ideal body weight and help one avoid obesity. If one consumes on a regular basis, foods that are high in saturated fat, sugar and trans-fat; it can result in one gaining weight along with being obesity. Within the context of disease prevention, it can be observed if one has a poor diet that would mean the possibility of them being at a high risk of various diseases, i.e. heart diseases, diabetes along with various kinds of cancer. It should be emphasized that saturated and Trans fats would contribute to cause atherosclerosis that is considered as a major risk that would cause stroke and heart attack. There is no denying that foods are responsible for contributing to obesity that are correlated indirectly to cancer- considering the fact obesity would boost the entire danger for developing cancer (Hanes, 2010)

How stress can impact one’s health & diet
Another aspect that must be considered is how a bad diet and nutrition can result in a window of diseases and problems such as stress and mood swings. If one keeps a watchful eye over restricting their intake of certain foods such as sugar and consuming healthy food like fruits and vegetables, having lean meats and whole grains along with numerous other healthy foods in one’s diet; one will be able to have a healthy life. In addition to this, it will also boost the immune system that also indicates a reduced frequency of mood-swings that would make it much easy for one to cope with stress. It should be pointed out that high stress is caused due to numerous illnesses- when the high level of stress is reduced, it would give one better health. Also, one has much better energy and feels they are far more productive and positive in life where they are able to do things better, especially the things they enjoy (Stress and the importance of a healthy diet, n.d)

Healthy characteristics
Below are five health characteristics which are considered essential for a healthy diet:
  1. Portion control: by maintaining a watch out on the portion one is consuming it would help one enjoy the food they consume in a much healthier manner.
  2. Fruits & vegetables: it is a good idea to have a combination of fruits and vegetables since they would reduce the risk of developing specific chronic diseases and it would offer the body with the necessary nutrients.
  3. Whole grains: by consuming whole grains, this would help reduce the risk of developing cardiovascular diseases.
  4. Restricting fat: It is important to limit and refrain from consuming certain kinds of fats that can contribute to high blood pressure and cholesterol and may even increase the danger of developing type 2 diabetes.
  5. Restricting processed foods: cutting down on processed foods will reduce the sodium in one’s diet and decrease the risk of developing cardiovascular disease (Carpenter, n.d)

Misconception about diet
There is no denying that with maintaining the right diet it will directly impact one’s health and the way one thinks, behaves and performs their everyday tasks. Too many people think diet refers to starvation or skipping meals and getting an attractive body but they are wrong because when they do this, it causes certain deficiency in their body’s system. As a result when they have managed to adhere to a certain diet in a bid to lose weight, they will notice a certain weight loss but they will feel a certain kind of weakness in their body due to the lack of vitamins or protein that they minus from their diet, this is clearly not an example of a ‘healthy diet’. There are tons of diets out there, whether you check on the Internet or watch on TV, however one needs to understand the requirements of their body better than others and know where and how to get the right advise from a health and nutrition expert not from someone who will try to make money out of them by marketing a diet plan like Atkins Diet, Slim Fast or Cambridge Diet which are meal planners or meal substitutes that will offer consumers the offer to stick to a meal plan every day and lose weight. In essence, we have explored the significance of health and diet; sticking to a healthy diet itself isn’t enough, it also requires one to remain active by undertaking various kinds of activities or exercises that would keep their system up and running in an overall healthy manner.
